Initial Setup for Konnexu
Feel free to skip any steps you've already done! Hope you find this helpful.
In order to manage the below settings, you'll need to be logged in to your ACP.
Step One: Set the Site to Offline Mode
Setting the site to "Offline Mode" allows you to set up or develop your site in privacy - bots and others won't be able to view the site. In order to access your site, navigate to the log in page (yoursite.com/login) and you can log in normally.
Step Two: Setting the Site Details
The Site Name, and Meta Description will help you with SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Setting the copyright is also important.
Step Three: Member Registration Settings
Member registration settings are one of the most important steps to take. This allows you to control how members join your community, whether it's by invite, or open registration, you have total control over the steps involved to become a member of your community.
Step Four: Outgoing System Mail Settings
Site notifications are critical to your community. Outgoing system mail settings allow you to either use Konnexu SMTP, or another external transactional mail service that provides SMTP email delivery (available on upper tier plans).
SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) helps to ensure that communications sent from your site get to your members. With SMTP, you have a better chance of landing in your member's inbox rather than spam box.
In addition to SMTP, you'll want to set the Email address where you prefer to receive important website notifications and contact form requests.
Step Five: Setting Privacy and Terms of Service
Your Privacy Policy and Terms of Service govern how members use your site, and how their privacy is handled. Members will be very concerned with your privacy policy, so it's best to take time putting one together. The Terms of Service protect you, and as such, you should seek advice from legal sources in your area when creating one.
Step Six: Anti-Spam Settings
You'll want to set up anti-spam protection in order to keep your site tidy and as free from spam as possible. Spam can be a huge detriment for your site SEO and user experience.
