Friend or Follow App

The Friend/Follow app provides a way for your members to connect with each other. For social sites, you may want to enable the Friend feature which is a two-way connection (each person needs to agree to be friends). Whereas, if you are wanting a business site, or perhaps just a simple follow system, you can enable the one way connection (one person follows another person, which doesn't require a mutual connection). Both the Friend and Follow settings respect user privacy settings and member blocking. Please note that you can only choose one - either a Friend or a Follow community. The Follow system is still in development.

The below tutorials explain a bit of what each feature does and its setting.

Friend

Two-way connection - each person agrees to the connection. This is more of a social setting and allows people to control who contacts them (friends, community, etc), and to get notifications of posts from their friends, etc.

Friend Requests Display Total

How many incoming and pending friend requests should be displayed in each page?

Friends Display Limit

Define how many friends should be displayed on a users profile and dashboard.

Allow posting on Main Feed

Allow posting to Main Feed when people become friends.

Follow {Coming Soon}

One way connection where one person/entity follows another. This allows for notifications of activity (posts, sales, etc).

Note:

Enabling the Follow system allows private messaging between all member levels that are allowed to private message. As this is a one way follow, there is not a setting to disable messaging between unconnected members as it is not a two way connection like a Friendship.
