Admin Control Panel (ACP)

The Admin Control Panel, abbreviated as ACP in our tutorials, is where you'll control everything on your Konnexu community. Essentially, this is the bridge to your starship. We'll introduce you to it now.

In the tutorials below, you'll notice that some have the mushroom - - to designate that these settings only show for those in the upper tier plans.

Logging in to the ACP

  • First, you'll need to ensure that you are logged in to your site with an admin user.
  • Click your avatar in the top right to view the drop-down menus.
  • Select AdminCP.
  • You'll now be logged in to the ACP and on the Dashboard which has stats and other details.

Viewing the Site While in the ACP

On the top right of your admin area is the "View Site" button that allows you to go back to the front end of your site. This is handy when you want to make changes in admin and view them in your site.

ACP Menus

When you log in, you'll be on your admin dashboard with details and stats in the middle of the page. On the left is your menu where you'll find the following:

Globalization

This is probably the most important section of your site as you'll manage your languages and phrases here.

  • Languages - all language packs that you've created are managed here.
  • Phrases - this section controls all the phrases on your site, from terms of service, to buttons, you're in full control of your site messaging. The phrase system helps you set the vibe/tone of your site and can help you create the perfect niche, brand, or focus community.

Apps

This has the app features you've installed and allows you to find more apps when you want to add new features.

  • Installed - a listing of all installed apps.

Appearance

This section has everything you need in order to customize your site looks, arrange blocks, create site pages and manage menus.

Members

In this section, you'll be able to manage members and member levels.

  • Browse Users - this is where your members can be found so that you can manage them.
  • Manage User Groups - create and manage the user groups (member levels) for your site.
  • User Group Settings - control access to features of your site via user group settings here.
  • Custom Fields - create and manage custom fields that appear on sign up and the user's profile. Later on, we will have more custom field options.

Settings

This section has general site settings. Some of these will have their own tutorial page as they have multiple settings. For those that do, we will link to the corresponding page.

Management

This section has various tools to manage the site. More will be coming as we progress through our roadmap.

  • Management - manage abuse reports of users and content.

Maintenance

This section has maintenance settings such as cache clearing after updating theme/style, phrases, etc.

  • Cache Manager - to clear the website cache after updates, theme or style changes, phrase updates, etc.
  • Toggle Site - setting to set the site to "offline" mode. Generally used for maintenance and when setting up the site in order to keep bots and users from accessing.

Logging Out of the ACP

Under the menus, you'll find the Logout button. This logs you out of the admin control panel, a good practice to get into as it's more secure to log out when done in admin. This log out button does not log you out of your website, it just logs out of admin.
